First completed in 1994, this study remains a popular introduction to the petroleum geology of the South Caspian Basin. Key sections, illustrations and the Field Database have since been updated.
The study area covers Azerbaijan, the South Caspian Basin (including the Apsheron "Sill") and Western Turkmenistan.
Over 50 maps, sections and enclosures illustrate the report. The report also includes a database of 170 fields, broken down into accumulations and illustrated with field structure maps.
The overwhelming majority of oil accumulations in the South Caspian region have been found in the "Middle Pliocene" Productive Succession. Depositional environments were not thoroughly investigated in the past by Soviet workers.
Most of the extensive information published on the Middle Pliocene of the South Caspian province and its hydrocarbon resources is only available in the Russian language, and commonly in books and journals that are not readily available in the west.
Blackbourn Geoconsulting's South Caspian Report is available now at a cost of US $12,500. For further details, please contact Dr Graham Blackbourn.
