First completed in 1994, this study remains a popular introduction to the petroleum geology of the South Caspian Basin.
The overwhelming majority of oil accumulations in the South Caspian region have been found in the "Middle Pliocene" Productive Succession. Depositional environments were not thoroughly investigated in the past by Soviet workers.
There are however, large amounts of published lithological and thickness data, and seismic stratigraphic interpretations. Most of the information published is only available in the Russian language, and is not readily available in the west.
Blackbourn Geoconsulting's South Caspian Report is available now at a cost of US $12,500. For further details, please contact Dr Graham Blackbourn.
